Prostaglandin E1 (PGE1)
Characteristics melting point 115-116℃.
Action and use PGE1 is a natural prostaglandin with a strong effect on blood vessel diastolization, smooth muscle loosening and platelet agglutination inhibition. Its effect on bronchodilatation is 10 to 100 times stronger than that of isoprenaline. It can resist the bronchial contraction caused by histamine, acetylcholine, 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) and bradykinin , but with no side effect on heart and blood vessels. It has some clinical curative effect on asthmatic chronic bronchitis and bronchial asthma, and it can help to expectorate the viscous sputum. What’s more, if PGE1 is added to the stored blood, the amount of platelet in the blood will increase.
